Mike (through his company Dolphin Marine Consultants Ltd.) was contacted by BAE Systems Portsmouth to undertake the refurbishment & upgrade of three mess rooms on HMS Severn, one of four  RN Operational patrol vessels known as the River Class. The contract was executed through A&P Shipyard, Falmouth in May 2019.

Mike’s knowledge of these ships is second to none having been involved with the ships build structure at VT Ship Building and subsequent  maintenance periods, refits and boatside emergency repairs.

These vessels including HMS Tyne and HMS Mersey are significant milestones in Mike’s career – They were the first vessels in the world to have a non-compression fire extinguishing system especially designed for galleys. Mike was heavily involved with the system’s development in partnership with Nobel ICI, earning BSI accreditation under the IMO regulation ISO 15371 part 1.
